October is renowned for being a fun and (seasonally) beautiful month. While the first day of fall doesn’t actually occur in October, it’s when we finally start to feel the change in temperature and see the colors of the leaves take their fall colors.
While the beginning of October is reserved for seasonal transitions, the end of October is a time for Halloween enthusiasts to decorate their homes, put together their best costumes, and get their homes ready for the local trick-or-treaters.
However, in the midst of all that is going on as the seasons change and the holidays get even closer, some people forget that the entire month of October is also designated to breast cancer awareness. All month long, individuals and families who have been affected by breast cancer come together, proudly show off their pink, and raise awareness for one of the biggest killers of women in the United States today.
This year, The Suburban Collection wanted to show its support for breast cancer awareness and those whose lives it has altered by starting a fundraiser. All of the money we raise from your generous donations will be donated directly to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Detroit!
These breast cancer walks are in connection with the American Cancer Society. People who sign up for these events will walk anywhere between three to five miles in order to raise awareness not only for the disease, but their involvement will also help raise money for the American Cancer Society to continue their innovative research into a cure.
The walk will be happening on Saturday, October 31st, but there is still time to donate to the cause! We set a goal of $130,000 and we are still working hard in order to meet that goal. To make a donation, visit our website.
In addition to our fundraiser, we are also in the process of creating a film for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Detroit project. Here is a picture of The Suburban Collection’s GM, David Fischer Jr., on set at our Cadillac of Troy location. Follow our Facebook page to stay up-to-date on the event, our fundraiser, and to see the final version of our film!
