About David T. Fischer

David Fischer is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of The Suburban Collection and is actively involved with over 20 charitable organizations.

David T. Fischer is a people-person down to his very core. When he first entered the automative industry as an advisor over 40 years ago, his goal was to provide the best customer service to his customers. Now, as CEO and Chairman of The Suburban Collection, David Fischer has not lost that passion, putting his customer’s priorities first. This level of customer focus sets him and his team apart, which is one of the reasons why The Suburban Collection is now one of the twenty largest automotive retail dealer groups in America. David T. Fischer’s love for his community extends far beyond his professional life. In his free time, David and his wife Jennifer have centered their philanthropic efforts around a few pillars, focusing on fighting cancer, helping children, and improving the state of education in Southeast Michigan and beyond. David Fischer and Jennifer are active in organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Forgotten Harvest. The major recipients of his nonprofit efforts are United Way, Detroit Public Safety Foundation, College for Creative Studies, and the University of Michigan.

David T. Fischer also supported S.A.Y. Detroit, an organization founded by Mitch Albom in collaboration with the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, the moment he heard about its creation. David Fischer grew up in Detroit and built his career in the city, and he cares deeply about providing opportunities to the people of Detroit so that the city and its inhabitants can continue to thrive. From basic necessities like food and shelter to recreational activities and events, a community is defined by its foundation.

David T. Fischer works everyday to improve the foundation of Detroit’s community life and make it a great place for people to live.

David Fischer is passionate about arts and culture in Detroit, particularly through educational institutions. He is Emeritus Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts and active with the Detroit Symphony and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the College for Creative Studies and, as Campaign Chair of the Creative Spirit initiative on campus, he led the financing and renovation of its historic Argonaut building. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Art from CCS for his efforts.

In addition to his personal endeavors, David T. Fischer is proud to lead a devoted group of employees who participate in nonprofit work. The Suburban Collection team’s community outreach is unparalleled by the average company! Each and every employee cares about organizations that inspire change on local and national levels.

Suburban Collection employees annually participate in the American Red Cross Annual Blood Drive (raising 300 pints of blood in 2015) and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (raising $205,128.00 in 2015). In the past, The Suburban Collection has joined with Ford Motor Company in the launch of Ford Mobile Food Pantries to bring food to the needy in metro Detroit.
